ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Cardinals rising star Jordan Walker will compete in the 2026 Home Run Derby during Major League Baseball’s All-Star week festivities.
The 2026 Home Run Derby is set for Monday at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia ahead of Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game.
Walker will be the first Cardinals hitter to participate in the Home Run Derby since Albert Pujols in 2022.
Walker has 21 home runs this season as of Thursday, tied for the 10th most in baseball, and a .534 slugging percentage, which ranks 14th best among all qualified hitters.
Now 24 years old in his fourth big-league season, Walker is also enjoying a .294 batting average with a MLB-leading 70 runs driven in. He will also represent the Cardinals in Tuesday’s All-Star Game, along with relief pitcher Riley O’Brien.
Walker is the fifth player to formally join the 2026 Home Run Derby Field, joining Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays, Jac Caglianone of the Kansas City Royals, Ben Rice of the New York Yankees and former teammate Willson Contreras of the Boston Red Sox.
No Cardinals has ever won a Home Run Derby event, but Pujols came closest in 2003 as the runner-up. Pujols participated in four derbies prior to retiring after the 2022 season.
